Thiền Việt is a Vietnamese mindfulness and wellness practice inspired by the wisdom of the ancient Đông A Zen tradition of the Trần Dynasty. Drawing upon traditional Eastern health principles and a holistic understanding of human well-being, this method offers a path of returning to oneself – cultivating balance in body, mind, and spirit while supporting a healthier, more harmonious way of living.
In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, many people experience increasing levels of physical fatigue, emotional stress, and mental overwhelm. Thien Viet was developed as a practical and accessible approach to well-being, independent of any religious or political affiliation. Its mission is to help individuals reconnect with themselves, cultivate inner balance, and contribute to a healthier, more mindful, and compassionate community.
Designed for people of all ages and backgrounds, the Thien Viet method can be practiced by anyone, regardless of experience, education, culture, or faith.
The method has been researched, refined, and taught by Master Lê Thái Bình for more than twenty years. Through a combination of mindful breathing, gentle movement, meditation, and energy-awareness practices, participants learn to relax the body, calm the mind, and develop a deeper connection with themselves.
Many practitioners report improvements in sleep quality, stress management, emotional well-being, focus, and overall vitality. Beyond its physical and mental benefits, the practice encourages self-awareness, inner peace, and a greater sense of purpose in daily life.
Unlike meditation approaches that focus solely on mental observation, Thien Viet integrates mindfulness, physical cultivation, and energy awareness into a unified practice. Through conscious breathing and meditation, practitioners learn to release tension, restore balance, and cultivate a sustainable source of inner strength and well-being.
At its core, the practice recognizes the interconnected relationship between body, mind, and life energy. By nurturing all three dimensions together, practitioners can develop greater resilience, clarity, and a deeper sense of harmony within themselves and with the world around them.
“When body, mind, and wisdom come into harmony, we return to our true nature, awaken our inner potential, and live with greater peace and fulfillment.”
— Master Lê Thái Bình
The Four Fundamental Steps of Practice
Step 1: Centering the Mind
Practice slow, deep, and steady breathing while gently coordinating breath with movement.
This initial stage helps calm the nervous system, relax the body, and bring awareness into the present moment.
Step 2: Releasing Negative Energy
Through mindful awareness and intentional relaxation, practitioners learn to release accumulated tension, stress, and unhelpful energetic patterns, creating space for greater balance and renewal.
Step 3: Meditation and Energy Cultivation
In a state of stillness and focused awareness, practitioners cultivate openness to the supportive energies of nature and life. This process encourages the free flow of energy throughout the body and supports a deeper sense of vitality and well-being.
Step 4: Integration and Balance
The final stage focuses on harmonizing internal and external sources of energy, allowing practitioners to stabilize and nurture their inner resources while cultivating kindness, wisdom, and emotional balance.
